sorry- not the same, but similar. A 2nd space C on a CC tuba is open, 4th partial. On an F, it's open, but the 3rd partial. But the C# a half step higher is 1-2 on the CC, and 2-3 on the F. Look at the fingering chart on the 'Tips' page and you'll see what I mean. Just remember that since the F is pitched a 4th higher than the CC, that all of the fingerings are a 4th lower for identical pitches. Same is true for Eb/BBb.

the fingerings for a CC tuba are the same as a Bb trumpet. The difference is that you read 'C', you play 'C', (open) but a Bb comes out the bell. When a tuba sees 'C', they play 'C', and a 'C' comes out the bell - no matter the key of the tuba. It's just that there are 3 different fingerings for that 2nd space 'C' on four different horns.

BTW, this isn't aimed at Dave, but has anyone else tried to explain that a tuba is a non-transposing instrument regardless of key to someone who plays a transposing instrument? Did you also feel like they were looking at you, wondering where you left your tin-foil hat, and if the voices were talking to you RIGHT NOW?
