Eb looks the same as trumpet since Eb and C are in the same position when one removes the clef sign. As long as a player can remember that 3 flats are in the key signature, the C and Eb scales appear the same on the Staff. I know some tuba players from 30-40 years who switched to the Eb tuba from trumpet because it was the "same."

BTW about transposing...I echo you completely. I have to break it down to "When I play an open note it is (C, Bb, Eb, F)" and 90% still don't get it.
