Smaller bore rotors and tubing (such as would "fit" in the taper of a mouthpipe) are much easier to come by than huge rotors and tubing (exceeding 8/10"). In addition, installation of "in mouthpipe" 5th rotors is much easier than "past pistons" or particularly easier than "past main slide" ones.
