Dave is exactly right. The best teachers start with the end goal of how it actually sounds as opposed to how the student looks while he's playing. One thing I might add to what Dave said, is that a the best teachers not only always have the end goal in mind, but they also stress that to their students as well. For example, A good teacher should not tell you that you "look tense" when you're playing without giving you their theory on why loosening up will help you sound better. For every critique of your physical setup, there should be some over-arching musical reason and it should be clear to the student.
