I agree with Mr. Zerkel. If you apply the principle that good teaching only happens when learning takes place, then it makes sense. The good teacher is not trying to create a clone; he or she is trying to do things which will improve the students playing. What needs to be done will vary from one student to the next and the mark of a great teacher is to be able to recognize what needs to be done and to proceed in that direction rather than insisting that you play their way (cloning).
