Dave, The Sanders was originally a brand made in Germany. The factory closed and the name was re-birthed in the far-east, specifically now in The People's Republic of China. Although the initial offerings were of sub-standard quality, the new line is of very good quality and playability. As the number of horns of any brand name increases, the overall workmanship seems to be making quantum leeps. For example, the linkage previously descibed as flimsy on the Sanders Imperial is, in fact, a heavy uni-ball, which I feel is the strongest on the market. One can actually grab the linkage only and shake the horn up and down without breakage.School systems, all over the country purchasing these horns, are expressing great satisfaction with their performance in terms of playability, durability, and affordability. These horns may be worth your time to play test if you can find one.
