However, if Prokofiev wanted it, he would have written it. Octave (as well has large interval displacements) are very characteristic of his music (especially the 5th).
Play the ink. (Well, yeah, there are a few rhythmic errors, which need to be fixed.)
But, having said this, I would never argue this point with Mr. Pokorny. He is one of the greatest players of our day. He can do whatever he wants, especially on his own CD!
