Whewwwww! Well, I was in twenty years ago and I doubt this part has changed. If they need tuba players army wide, and you know which end of the horn to blow into you will pass. After basic you will go to the School of Music at Norfolk and again, how hard it will be will depend how many tuba players are needed. If you aren't very good you could find yourself at Finance school and you are screwed. You are in for __ no matter whether you are playing or digging holes. You are "guaranteed" a spot IF you graduate from the school. I had the best time of my life in the 7th Div Band. But then Reagan came in and the fun stopped. More Army and less Band. If you are still interested, try to get assigned to A Headquarters or AG Band. Avoid Division Bands. And especially avoid Korea 2nd Div. It still beats working, but the politics and stupidity can drive you mad.
