As usual, Rick has very calm cool and collected advice, but i think the issue here is conductors who EXCESSIVELY antagaonize the players. I had one of these last year at a High School Music festival. My BD, being instrumental chair of our district, was planning distric band this year and this conductors name came up. I said "no, i want to enjoy district band, and i figure so does everyone else."
I'm glad my BD is so understanding.
