FYI:

The excess baggage charge is not for weight on the airplane...
They have plenty of ways to pack an airline, 5lbs over won't be a big problem.

We are getting BOGUS information.
This problem has NOTHING to do with Sept 11

The charge is for getting your horn to the plane and off. It's a sorta union thing. People have to load the stuff.
The conveyor belts that load the plane are not designed to carry the heavier bags. Therefore, a baggage handler must load it.
FYI If you have wheels, this should help in your argument for the weight waiver!!!

Information is power
Book with a reputable travel agent and let them know your situation.
Know the weight and Measurement of your case(s)
The agents have connections... USE THEM!!!
And remember, you represent ALL of us, so always be polite. Firm, but polite.

Take it from one who travels

A Lot
