I've seen bass players with HUGE flight cases. I wonder if they are having similar problems. ITEA should get together with the corresponding bass organization and any others who are in the same boat and see if a reasonable solution can be found for musicians flying with "oversize" instruments. Probably the union would be able to get better results.
