Hey, you'd be surprised at all the crazy stuff that create a buzz in a tuba. One time I borrowed a tuba from the local junior high. It had a really annoying buzz originating in what seemed to be the bell. I shook it around, etc., but no good. After finally trying to wash it out (by pouring a quart of water down the bell and pouring it out), some torn up paper came out of the horn. Out of curiosity, I tried to piece the paper together.
Can you guess what it was? some kid's torn up band-candy form (about 20 years old, too) had gotten tossed into the horn and was creating the buzz, which disappeared after the cleaning.
Maybe a buddy tossed a Juicy Fruit wrapper into your bell......
