Also I forgot to mention that your choice of mouthpiece could make some difference, esp in low register when articulation is concerned.
I found the larger mthpcs like PT-88 or PT-50 to be too woofy and unclear, and a little more tricky to center notes. I went for and stuck with PT-49, I think being only a 4/4 sized instrument it made the difference. Each to his own, but it might be worth it to try several for a while and see.
