I am among that group of guys having middle-aged male menopause. I haven't played since high school in 1966 but want to get back into a little bit of playing, commmunity band or something. I aquired a Conn tuba from my old high school, pretty beat up but still playable and find that I can at least still hold a tone, which hopefully means there may be some help for me. The tuba is a Conn, serial H78108, but no where can I find the model number. I have looked at various pictures on the internet and believe it to be a 10J. Can anyone help me in identifying what I have for sure? For the record, even though the finish is pretty bad and there are many many small dents, the tuba was playable. With the help of a local repair shop who adjusted the valves and fixed a couple of leaks, it plays pretty well. Total cost with case and repair work was a $200 donation to the high school band boosters fund and $100 to the shop. I don't think the price was bad. Comments or help appreciated.
