For me personally, It's no big deal using a 3+1 horn as I was a eupher first. The only advantage to the horn I play now is that I like it.

I think with the right mpc your horn would be fine for what you are doing with it.

Without trying to step on any toes, if the band you are talking about is the MCBB, I think getting matched instruments isn't the first money I'd spend. The concept of sound needs to be developed first. Bringing in some folks to work with the band who have a first hand knowledge of the sound and style would be money better spent.

I hope this doesn't offend, and it's only my opinion. A lot can be done with appropriate mpcs and good information to help achieve a more homogeneous sound. It's often the plumber, not the plumbing that will make a difference. The horns being used now aren't that far off the mark (IMVHO).
