Have you tried a tuba stand? I can put my CC tuba on the chair in front of me, but I am quite a bit less massive than most tuba players, who have no such room on their chair.
But....if tuba is too heavy, there is always euphonium.

I hope you find a way to continue to have fun with it. Don't write off horn until you try it; (you can rent one for 3 months or so) yeah the embouchure is totally smaller but it's still a brass. 4th horn parts are not taxing, either, and you still get to play in the band.

I didn't "go nuts" until I found brasses either....something about them. Maybe it's that tendency to make funny noises with our lips when we were kids, that has carried over.
