Hoping that this is a "troll"...

But MAN, "Rob", you'd hate to be in my band program as you actually have it pretty easy! My 5th graders test on 4 Major Scales, my 6th graders test on 6 Major Scales, My 7-8th graders test on ALL TWELVE MAJOR SCALES (memorized, individually, in front of the class in "circle form"), My 9-10th graders test on all three forms of the minor scales, and My 11-12th graders test on the modes. And if you are in the jazz ensemble? Whoa...don't even get me started.

I think you and your parents would try to get me fired!

Hang in there, buddy. I know it seems unfair and a complete waste of time (the chromatic scale is all you need? Not quite. It's about the patterns, not the individual notes played!)...but it's like eating your veggies. Scales are SO good for you!

Take care!
