For those of you who are going to play for Pavarotti, here's the line up for tuba as we are doing it in Vegas this weekend and seems to be the line-up for the rest of the tour. Disclaimer: BRING A BOOK.

1. O soave funciulla/Puccini/ La Boheme- last piece of the first half and the first piece you will play. 3 notes A-C#-B, in the staff 1/2 notes.

2. Intermezzo/Mascagni/L'amico Fritz- Good tune, nice little choral blow at the end.

3. Perche chiuso/Puccini/Tosca- the longest piece on the program. You get to play the last note, an E right below the staff.

4. My Man's Gone Now/Gershwin/Porgy&Bess- another treat. Don't get all ready to play the big triplet run. You play the first note after that, a couple in the middle, and one at the end.

Encores:

1. Granada- Good part, some blows, and a real fast scale lick that has more notes in it than anything to this point.

2. Brindisi/Traviata/Verdi- Good blow, the conductor won't let you play the first few notes even remotely close to the dynamic level marked, but good fun anyway.

There are a couple of tunes in the book we aren't doing, "La Luce Lanque" from Macbeth/Verdi that is a neat tune, and a piece from "Werther" by Massanet that has two notes in it. All can be done on an F. Enjoy the soprano, Cynthia Lawrence, she is FABULOUS. Haven't heard him sing yet. He was at this afternoons rehearsal. He is very involved with interpretation. The conductor doesn't speak English well, make sure you know the names of the tunes, not just the composers as he whips them off pretty fast. Have Peace.

Chuck
