Check with appliance dealers in your area. The boxes from small freezers or refrigerators would probably be the right size. Make sure you decide on a minimum and maximum box size before you start calling around. You might also try checking with commercial shippers such as Yellow Freight to see if they can supply packing materials. Another idea might be to check your yellow pages for a box manufacturer or supplier such as Boxes, Etc.

My local UPS terminal has a machine that creates custom packing materials by filling a plastic pouch with foam. They might be willing to use it (for a price) even if you're not shipping by UPS. Commercial shippers might also have such a machine.

Since you originally received the horn from The Brasswind you probably remember that they use FedEx because UPS has had problems with trashing tubas during shipment.
