I agree with Craig Hall, i have 3 bellfront tubas , 2 conn, and a Martin all fine tubas and 2 of them have 4 valves. they have great sound and are for the most part in tune, but for a young player wanting to better himself i think ,i too would wait and try to find an instrument that you can use for all applications. Most of my playing though is done with my upright tubas, Mirafones, Cervaney,and Yorks. Good luck in your search.
