It is true that I am more familiar with the Kalison. I am tempted to go and try another Besson again. After playing on one for nine months, I might have a better idea of the differences between each one. My other roommate just got back from Phil Sinder's recital this evening at Michigan State. He played Hindimeth, Strauss,a Curtis Olson piece, and Carnival of Venice. He played the entire thing on the Besson Eb. I had to miss it because of a quintet rehearsal, but my fellow tubist, Matt, said it was done very well. Anyways, I remember trying a Besson over the summer at Brasswind to try out some mouth pieces and detected very little difference between that one and the one I purchased. I could be wrong.
The newer Kalisons seem to have an excellent set of valves. I haven't tried any other models besides the Daryl Smith. Are there any others available?
