A judgement on which orchestra or which tubist is the best should not be based on recordings. Which producer or sound engineer is best??? If you were to ask any member of a major (recording ) orchestra brass section what their opinion is I am sure it would be based on the most recent live performance that was heard and with the awareness that we are all doing our best at a given moment and hoping the engineer is too. Such is life...
