I tackled a piece last night at orchestra rehearsal that struck me as unusually demanding. It required ENORMOUS amounts of air to keep the musical lines flowing properly. The work was Carl Nielsen's Symphony No. 2. The most aerobically demanding was the third movement, Andante malincolico, low-range, at 60 beats per minute. I felt very well-ventilated after playing this work.
