The 4J is the BBb predecessor to the 5J. I believe it has a 16 1/2" bell as opposed to the 18" bell on the 5J. I have both a 2J CC and a 3J CC. Same bell coorelation to the 4J and 5J. All of these instruments have a .658" bore and 4 pistons. My first tuba was a 5J. For years Harvey Phillips played the CC and now Richard Morrow endorses the 5J. I think he owns a discontinued 3J also.
My 2J is for sale. $2000 with hard case. Anyone interested?
