When I was a HS sophomore in 1970 and started playing tuba (switched from clarinet!)
the principal tuba player at our school (a junior) played a personally-owned, CC Mirafone tuba. Today, every high-school student referred to my community band by their tuba teachers own their own horns and are playing CC tubas. In fact, it seems the only people I know who buy new BBflat tubas are adult, community band players. Trend? I dunno, maybe the real experts out there can say "why"....but these are just my observations
