This is an interesting thread. I have long felt that the U.S. manufacturers could be producing high-quality tubas in greater numbers and varieties, and could (possibly) make money doing so. As have thousands of U.S. players, I personally have enriched the German and Czech manufacturers by buying their horns. I'd like to buy American next time.

One of the posters on this board entered an old catalog picture last year of a Conn tuba in CC circa 1920 (?) that looked pretty impressive. I think it was called "Grand Orchestral", or something of that sort. I wonder if the tooling for that old horn is still available. And, if so, would it have any bearing on the present discussion in this thread?
