This happened to me in college. We had a grad student that made some pretty gawd awful "blatts". In front of the entire wind ensemble I got pointed out. Needless to say I was pretty angry. The other tuba players knew where it came from but the damage was done. Afterwards I went to the director and asked if he had ever known me to play that way. He said no but... So what did I do, I swallowed my pride, never named the offending individual and went on playing the best I could.
The only thing you can do is to take pride in the good music you can make and continue to make the best sound possible. Ultimately, you are playing for the benefit of the band and for yourself.
