Klaus,
I’m not stuck on a CB50 just the size and shape (of the CB) and if it has a great sound better yet! I'll look into the Weril BBb's. But I do need the big bell close to my left ear.

About that "fraction of a second to anticipate", I was referring only to
improvising which note I would create in that split second.
I'm talking about needing that time to guess where the song is going and be
ready with the best note. If you improvise with a group (not memorize) you
know what I am talking about. If it doesn’t come naturally you don’t know what I’m talking about. Some really great readers can't do it without the
notes in front of them. And when they try...it doesn’t work real well. Faking it only goes so far. I'm not a great reader so (thank heaven) improvising does come to me naturally. Anticipating the beat in NOT what I'm talking about. Anticipating which note I will create (out of the air) that sounds best with the rest of the players is what I have to hear in advance. Remember...no music and not relying on locked-in memory.
