The weight issue crossed my mind. I like your ideas.. I just thought that mine was maybe more simplistic. This is why I posted this though so that I could get some input and ideas from others. I do like the idea of having the tuba inside of the gig bag while in the case. That enables you to take advantage of the protection of the gig bag while the amaturish hand work with the foam iside the case may be less than perfect.. especially done with my craftsmanship.
