According to the 1937 Conn catalog, the 34J professional model BBb recording bass had a detachable upright bell, and the 36J "Wonderphone" model had the recording bell. Very few upright bells were made, for they were considered old-fashioned. Recording bells were in vogue, so that is what you are likely to see. The bell tenon and socket on these horns, as well as the 2XJ series, were the same as those on the 20K sousaphone.
I do have a "naked lady" upright bell, 24" diameter, and serious inquiries are welcome.
