It's my understanding that the military will not pay off a student loan that your spouse may have. It's also my understanding that the Army is the only service that pays off college loans at all(correct me if I'm wrong). The Marine Corps does have a tuition assistance program(75% paid for, I believe) but I don't know about the other services. I suspect there will be many posts on this topic, as there have been in the past.
Commissary and exchange priveleges extend to spouses.
