Joe S. isn't saying that taxes should be optional, only that confiscating one person's wealth to give to another is wrong. When the recipient is filthy rich, it is not only wrong but obscene. It's exactly the kind of thing that was supposed to be prevented by representative as opposed to democratic government.
Nationally there is a constitution that prohibits such activities, but it in recent decades it is ignored. Locally, we are at the mercy of those immoral and gutless wretches who will take from the 40% to give to the 60%, in order to stay in power.
Joe Baker, who will not live in a city with a major sports franchise (or orchestra) for JUST this reason.
