see anything ostentatiously wrong

???

Ostentatious:
adj 1: intended to attract notice and impress others; "an ostentatious sable coat" [syn: pretentious] [ant: unostentatious] 2: of a display that is tawdry or vulgar [syn: pretentious, kitsch]

I find the prolixity of your post ostentatious. Please can the bombast.

If you're asking if beveling the inside edge of a mouthpiece shank is okay, sure go ahead and knock yourself out. I doubt that you'll note any objective difference. FWIW, I tried this using a conical hone in a drill press. I didn't notice any change.

Insofar as the gap business is concerned, you might want to investigate the Dillon Adjustable Gap Receiver (AGR), which actually allows one to adjust the size of gap between the end of the leadpipe and the mouthpiece shank. Some find it to be useful; however, the adjustment is huge in comparison to the gap of a badly-fitting mouthpiece shank in the typical non-adjustable receiver.
