Jay, I'm confused by your answer to Dave L's question.  He asked about concertos for contrabass tuba, and you responded with an example of a concerto for bass tuba.  Did you mean that the Anderson Concerto is written for contrabass tuba?  It certainly can be played on a CC or a BBb (and, indeed, Sam Pilafian may have played a CC on his recording), but the third movement hangs around high F# a lot, and the piece ends with a long sustained G# (yes, folks, the Bydlo note).  Wouldn't this be better suited to an Eb or F horn?  (For the sake of this conversation, we'll assume that the key of B minor doesn't pose any significant intonation problems on any horn).  
As far as a concerto written EXPRESSLY for contrabass tuba, didn't Gene Pokorny commission John Stevens to write such a piece for him to perform with the CSO?
