Well said, Gus. But may I add a little bit? A good hard case (or reenforced gig bag) will not add value to the instrument at resale time, but it will certainly preserve the value of the instrument by keeping it from getting dinged, dented, and scratched. This is especially in High School, and also at University with all those careless string players around.
Find the right tuba for you, Joey, and take good care of it. It will take care of you.
