I see you have discovered the infamous "Low A-flat Conspiracy".
For years I have felt that many of the audition committees did
not like Yamaha BB-flats and would therefor request passages that
required the "virtually non-existent low A-flat", which in turn
would surely eliminate that player. I, for one, know that the
A-flat does exist (I have seen it one the staff and the piano
and once even heard a professional tuba player play one!) so I
have not given up hope that it can be obtained on the Yamaha
BB-flat. In the meantime, folks like us (you know, the ones
that "they're" against) must stick together and fight this evil
consiracy!
