Agreed! But these are also an indicator of the sad state of band music during the 20th century. Divide the 20th century in half and repeat the experiment. Most really significant names (alright, Clifton Williams excepted--but he ain't Sousa either) fall before 1950. And the greatest, Sousa, did most of his work between about 1880 and 1928.
