I myself am in a high school band, and here are a few tunes that I've liked quite a bit so far:

American Riversongs (GREAT tuba solo/soli in the last part)- Pierre laPlante
Themes from Green Bushes- Percy Grainger
Shepherd's Hay- Percy Grainger (edited by Mark Rogers I think)
Second Suite in F Major- Holst
Anything fast by David Holsinger (e.g., Abram's Pursuit, The Gathering of the Ranks at Hebron, At the Strongholds of En Gedi)
Candide Suite (pretty difficult)- Bernstein/Clare Grundman
