Larger bore horns have more flexible centering for notes in general. A very open receiver, without a gap, exascerbates this effect. Combined, this means that St. Petes by nature of their design have very "flexible" note centering. That means that the player needs to have the proper buzz to hit the right note on the attack. That's another reason why I don't think that St. Petes are good horns for students.
