i've been playing my st pete for a little over 3 years. i just recently stumbled on somthing strange that i thought i'd see if anyone else noticed. my horn has problems hitting notes dead on i think it's because st petes dont realy have a receiver just a hole at the end of the leadpipe. i also find it extremely hard to hit the fourth space g. well one day getting ready for an audition i tightened the spring pretty tight and oiled the valves and got everything working smooth but not very fast. i noticed that all of my problems were gone. well i still had a little trouble with the g but not half what i used to. the valves work fine for everything i play. i'm not playing carnival of venice or anything but also not oom pah.i was just wondering if anyone else had good stuff come out of tightening their springs.
