On the 4th, I played with a dixieland band from 5-9PM at the Ansley Golf Club just North of downtown Hot'lanta, perched on the edge of the upper floor dining room terrace that overlooked the swimming pool and tennis courts. I had my trusty Buescher helicon and a Conn-Chief mouthpiece I'd restored and just got back from the plater's the day before, so it was a test run for the "Chief". The "Chief" has a sharper rim than what I was used to, so I felt the effects by the end of 4 hours, but it delivered the sound. The weather was, well, you know, Atlanta in the summer, but it was a great evening. The funniest thing was taking solos on tunes I'd never played before.
