If the instrument is playing stuffy, worn chrome one the inside slide stocks may not be the problem. After all, the fit between the inside and outside playing slide tubes on trombones is very loose from the factory, and even if all of the chrome is gone from the stocks, it just isn't that much more of a leak.

If the instrument has been played so much that the stocks are worn that badly, the stuffiness problem might be badly worn rotary valves (??????).

I hope not, because this is a more expensive problem than replacing the inside slide tubes.
