Yes, there are some great kids out there playing some hideously difficult material and pulling it off marvelously. But our orchestras are slowly dying and we may end up with lots of talented kids from the tuba farms with no place to play. The high-end tuba market may well collapse.
Or, the Chinese will get a little guidance in building decent tubas and the price of a decent instrument will plummet (if there's still a real demand, that is).
Or the CC tuba will go out of fashion. Hey, Eb basses were far more popular than BBb well into the 20th century. Who knows what the future will bring?
