Meinl-Weston finally releases the long awaited BBb-Tuba 195 "Fafner"

After almost 2 years of thorough research, testing and ongoing development, Meinl-Weston is proud to release the new BBb-Tuba to the market.

Once released to the public, "Fafner" received only positive comments from players, conductors and critics alike - see the review of the recent "Siegfried" played by Bamberger Symphoniker with Heiko Triebener on BB-Tuba Fafner (Jan 27th, 2001).

Heiko Triebener claims that he never ever has received such unanimous enthusiastic comments from his colleagues about a new instrument.

Meanwhile, here are some more technical details:

Orchestra BBb-Tuba 195 "Fafner"
5/4 size
4 rotary valves
bell diameter: 48cm / 18.9in
vertical pull tuning slide
21.5mm / .846 bore
Height 105cm / 41.34in

This model will be on display to the public for the first time at Musikmesse Frankfurt (March 7 - 11, 2001) at the Meinl-Weston / Melton booth in Hall 8.0 G 90.
Below you'll find some pictures from one of the earlier testing sessions with the Melton Tuba Quartett (Ulrich Haas, Heiko Triebener, Markus Hötzel with Hartmut Müller physically missing, but virtually being present via telephone) who visited Wenzel Meinl GmbH again to inspect the development of the new BBb-Tuba model 195 "Fafner".
Heiko Triebener is testing "Fafner" while Markus Hötzel and Ulrich Haas are listening.
