Like Sean said, the Neptune piston and the PT-7 are made by the same manufacturer but the Perantucci is inspected personally and finalized by Robert Tucci and Dan Perantoni(giving the american York sound). When the tubing for both of these instruments comes off the esembly line they are exactly the same. But the valve work and finishes are slightly different. In fact you can order them out of the same catalog for about the same price. But like Sean said, the PT is kind of an upgraded(in american opinion)version of the VMI. If you asked a European player which was better he might say a VMI.
