Amid all the talk about different brands of tuba, I'm thinking of selling my Hirsbrunner
and buying a more affordable instrument. If I were to do so, I'd probably buy a Willson. I haven't found anything like it. The closest thing is -- believe it or not -- the old Caravell student BBb. I dont' know if it's mere coincidence, but the Caravell has the same pitch tendencies as the Willson, and the sound of each horn is almost identical. I know most folks would scoff at this, but why not play a less expensive horn, if it plays just as well as the bank-buster? Thoughts?
