After reading the post's below about music schools it got me thinking a bit. Lets say you do not attend a music school. How about just taken private lessons with a professional player( and maybe acouple others when the opportunity presents it self) and practicing your butt off at home. I realize there is a disadvantage to this by not having the constant competition that is present in a studio among other players. I also realize it would depend on the individual at hand. I would like to hear some of your thoughts on this subject please. I ask this because this is my present situation and I am wondering if I am doing the right thing or not. I am 23 years old and have been with my teacher(about once a month or so) for over 3 years now. All comments and advice welcome.
