I perform and teach in SW Louisiana (Lafayette to be exact). This whole discussion has got me thinking. If some guys have a good knowledge of reggae, and the Texas guys have a handle on Mariachi and TexMex or Tejano music, I've got pretty good access to Zydeco music
(for those not in the know, think traditional Cajun French music hopped up on steroids with a rock 'n' roll rhythm section) as well as the New Orleans second-line and brass band stuff.

On the other hand, if I arranged Zydeco charts for tuba/euph ensemble, who would I give the accordion and washboard parts to?....

Just musing...
