Eb with a German sound?

Ok, last night we were messing around with my "toys," that is, instruments I own that are not my "primary" ones of violin and horn. I still have an older MW 46, that I just love the sound of, but which has some notes that I just can't get to sound. So the question is, is there an Eb out there that has that "German sound," along with the missing notes? I tried two other tubas, a Weril 3/4 CC and a 621F, and just didn't like the sound (or the pistons, either.)

Question #2: are there recommendations for a mouthpiece for a MW F? I don't have any particular range problems, so an all-round mpc would work. I like a dark sound. But it has had a different lead pipe put on it, and takes a large shank mouthpiece. I have a euph mpc that fits, actually, but the tuba mpc I have has a shank that is much too small, and I have to wrap paper around the shank to keep it in the horn.
