During high school, we played Louie, Louie at virtually every pep band performance, sometimes twice if there wasn't much else in the folder to play. All the low brassers loved it (I played french horn or trumpet more often than not) so it kept getting requested. My sophomore year my director finally got sick of it and stopped programming it. After about 3-4 performances without it, the tuba player got all of the brass players to pull it out. The director counted off and was quite shocked to hear the low brass and percussion start Louie, especially since the woodwinds hadn't gotten the message. The director just put his hands down and sat down (he did laugh about it afterwards) and the woodwinds, not knowing what to do, just put their horns to their lips and pretended to play. I don't think the audience noticed.
